Thaddeus 'Ted' Francis Flaherty Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 14th, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona.

Born to Francis Aloyisius Flaherty (Flats) and Sarah (Sadie) Pancratius Neary Flaherty on February 12th (13),1941 in Dunmore, PA. Ted grew up in Dunmore PA. where he graduated from the University of Scranton. He enlisted in the Army and served as an Infantry Officer. Ted met and married Mary Ann Whalen with whom he had 3 children. They separated and Ted transferred with IBM to sunny Tucson, Arizona. Leaving New York and 3 feet of snow behind in January of ‘81. The kids loved the weather and never went back. Ted would meet Nipa, the love of his life, and married her in September of 1988. After retiring from IBM, he worked for Southwest Doors and La Loma Doors as an HR Director and retired once again.

Ted was a devoted father and loved his kids to no end, spending many summers at their beloved family cottage in Lake Winola. He loved going on vacations with his wife Nipa. Their favorite place was Morrow Bay, California, where they enjoyed many great times with the locals.

Ted also had a great sense of humor and grew to have many great friends at the local VFW and DAV. He loved his sports teams, the New York Yankees, New York Giants and watched many games at his favorite watering hole.

Ted is survived by his wife Nipa Flaherty. His two sisters; Mary Kay McDonnell (Tom), and Anne Terese Carl (Joe). His children; Kelly Flaherty Alvarez (Bob), Mary Shannon Flaherty (Jimi) and Thaddeus (Teddy) Francis Flaherty II (Holly) and William (Billy) Heidmeyer (JoAnna) and Countless nieces and nephews from back east.

His grandchildren Valarie Alvarez-Bujarski (John), Lindsay McDonald, Ashley McDonald (Meagan), Shayna McDonald (Savannah), Claudia Alvarez-Gustafson (Jack) and Paige Evans. Great-grandchildren, Abriana Calles, Kennedy McDonald and Sora Bujarski.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents Flats and Sadie, and by his siblings Frank, Betty Jeanne, Patsy and Jack.

Funeral services will be held on June 29th, 2026, 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Tucson, AZ.
