Steven Paul Owen

Steven Paul Owen, 79, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on March 11th, 2026. A lifelong martial artist, Steve founded the Tucson Dojo in 1972 and dedicated his life to the art of Judo as a competitor, trainer, and coach. Steve is survived by his beloved Cheri; his children: Michael, Angela, Wade, Clarissa and Samantha; and his grandchildren: Nicholas, Rachael, Sara, Sierra, Rhys, Nathanael, and Braden. Is preceded in death by late wife Cindy, as well as his parents Everett and Lucylle, and his siblings Christine and David. Beyond the dojo, Steve was known for his love of animals, particularly his koi fish and his cherished family of cats. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hermitage Cat Shelter or Pima Animal Care Center in honor of his lifelong compassion of All creatures. A service will be held on April 19th, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Catalina High Magnet School, Hines Gym (3645 E. Pima St., Tucson, AZ 85716)
