Kenneth Patrick “Ken” Beall, 59, passed away on May 8, 2025, in Vail, Arizona, surrounded by his family after a courageous 16-month battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on November 13, 1965, in San Diego, California. Ken grew up in Chula Vista with his younger sister Suzi, where he developed a love for adventure, the outdoors, and especially the beach. He spent his youth riding BMX bikes, playing baseball and football, and graduated from Hilltop High School in 1983. Even then, he displayed the grit and determination that would define his life.
Ken’s greatest chapter began in 1985 when he met Terry while they were working at the same mall in San Diego. After attending her senior prom together, they never looked back. Married in 1989, they spent the next 36 years building a life rooted in love, mutual respect, and shared laughter. Together, they raised three children—Alan, Jayme, and Ryan—and created a home full of trust, comfort, and unconditional love.
In 2003, the family moved to Tucson, Arizona, which quickly became home. Ken embraced the desert landscape, exploring it by bike, and continued to show up for others in quiet, steady ways that earned him deep respect and affection. Ken’s professional journey began with early roles at Wherehouse Records and Software City, where his interest in technology took root. He went on to build a respected career in tech project management, with roles at General Dynamics, CSC, NCI and Microsoft. In the midst of his career, Ken earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University, graduating summa cum laude in 2010—a testament to his discipline and lifelong curiosity. A major milestone came with his 10-year anniversary at Microsoft, where he was known for his calm leadership, thoughtful problem-solving, and trademark dry wit. His time working at Microsoft included four years in Germany, a reflection of both professional versatility and personal adventure. Outside of work, Ken was an avid triathlete, marathon runner, and cyclist. He approached endurance sports with the same focus and consistency he brought to every part of his life. Whether training, racing, or cheering others on, he was a quiet force of encouragement and inspiration. He also loved flying small planes, cheering on the Chargers and Padres, and winding down with a Hallmark movie—occasionally with a good whiskey in hand. Steady, thoughtful, and deeply funny, Ken had a dry sense of humor that could light up a room and a quiet presence that made people feel at ease. His generosity was boundless—offered through time, advice, or help—always freely given, never seeking anything in return. He never needed to be the loudest in the room, he was simply the best guy in it.
For all his accomplishments, Ken’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband to Terry; a loving father to Alan (and his wife Ashley), Jayme, and Ryan; and a proud “Peepaw” to his grandchildren Blake, Logan, Madisyn, and Raegan. He is also remembered by his mother, Kathleen, and her husband Larry; his sister, Suzi; his stepmother, Karen; and many other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Beall.
