Joseph Kyriakakis, 77, of the Tucson area, passed away on June 20, 2026.
Born on December 13, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, Joseph lived a life marked by dedication, perseverance, curiosity, and generosity. From an early age, he possessed a natural talent for understanding how things worked and a determination to master them. Those qualities would guide him throughout his life and career.
Joe proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, where he worked in photography. Following his military service, he built a successful career as an electrical engineer. He was respected for his intelligence, technical expertise, and tireless work ethic. Whether solving a complex engineering problem or helping a friend with a project, Joseph approached every challenge with patience, ingenuity, and determination.
Outside of work, Joseph embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved good food, fine wines, and cooking meals to share with family and friends. He was an avid photographer, a devoted enthusiast of high-fidelity audio, and a lifelong admirer of anything mechanical. He found joy in learning, tinkering, improving, and appreciating craftsmanship in all its forms.
One of Joseph’s greatest pleasures was sharing the things he loved with those around him. No film captured his spirit better than Moonstruck, his all-time favorite movie, which he quoted endlessly. Its celebration of Italian culture, opera, food, family, and New York reflected many of the passions that defined his life and brought him joy.
Above all, Joseph was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband to Vasiliki and a proud father to his sons, Constantine and John. He was also a cherished grandfather to Ethan and Aaron, who brought him immense pride and happiness. His family knew him as a steadfast source of support, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Joe will be remembered for his dedication, perseverance, generosity, and willingness to help others. He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him and remember him fondly.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Constantine and Mary, and by his brother George. Joseph is survived by his wife, Vasiliki; his sons, Constantine and John; his grandsons, Ethan and Aaron; his sister, Stella Kyriakakis; and many extended family members and friends.
