James Melvin Fletcher

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Fletcher Jr. on August 5, 2024. Sixty-six years ago, Jim was born to James and Adele Fletcher in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Jim retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force in 1997 after twenty years of service.

Papa Jim was a man of enormous strength. He met adversity and challenges with courage and determination. Not all of his determination worked out though. He did flip a plane while working as a mechanic for AMARG and kept us laughing for years. Despite flipping a plane, Jim’s talents led him to become a supervisor in reclamation for the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) until he retired in 2023. It was there that he formed many relationships that he valued and maintained until his passing. He was an awesome mechanic and worked on everything from Sophia’s Quarter Midget to his own Legend race car, to refurbishing a ’67 Cougar. That Cougar was the love of his life. Racing was his passion. Jim could do a burnout and take tight corners like a pro. He raced his Legend and won. On the other hand, he was quick to express his opinion of other drivers on the road. He wanted everyone to go fast. There was a gentle loving side to Jim as well. He loved flowers and was in awe of rainbows. He held babies lovingly and talked to them sincerely. He took the hand of his granddaughter and walked her through car shows. He will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Denise and daughter Sophia; sons, James and Jeremy; stepsons, Nick Celi and wife Jenn, Mike Celi and wife Gina; grandchildren, Luca, Gianna, and Ada; father, James Fletcher Sr.; sister, Vicky Kaminski and her husband, Dan; and brother, Jack Fletcher and his wife, Deanna; and several loving nieces and nephews as well as two great nieces. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Adele Fletcher, and brother, Dean Fletcher

Jim will be interred with full Air Force Honors
