July 22, 1936 – April 13, 2026

Evelyn Irene “Sue” Shaw, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2026 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 89.

Sue was born on July 22, 1936 to LeGrand Judson and Marie Mildred (Somaduroff) Henderson in Portland, Oregon.

Sue graduated from Lebanon Union High School (Lebanon, Oregon) in 1954 and attended Bible Standard College in Eugene, Oregon 1960-63. She received her Exhorter’s License and went on to preach, teach, and lead worship in area churches. She was always appreciated as a creative and excellent Bible teacher, helping children and adults alike to understand the Bible better.

While working for Harry Ritchie Jewelry in Eugene, Oregon, she met the love of her life Thomas Elvin Shaw and they married February 22, 1963. They soon had three daughters and also opened their home to 17 foster children over several years.

Sue had a vast array of vocational experience spending years as a telephone operator and enjoyed performing office and sales work for several firms. Tom & Sue bought and operated a secondhand store in Baker, Oregon from 1978-1980 where they attended many flea markets and auctions and made many friends. She worked as a bookkeeper for Les Schwab Tire Centers in Oregon for 15 years. In her later years, Sue was an enthusiastic Mary Kay consultant, earning many incentives and rewards.

Tom & Sue moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2000 where they enjoyed the climate, nearby family, and new friendships. After Tom’s death, Sue moved to Fellowship Square where she thrived spending time with other residents and even participating in a creative writing group.

Some of Sue’s hobbies included bowling, auctioneering, calligraphy, crocheting, flea marketing, card games, Scrabble, and creative writing. She loved a good joke and had a tremendous sense of humor, receiving great joy when she could make people feel good through laughter and sincere compliments. She never met a stranger and wanted to show others their value through making an effort to remember people’s names.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Elvin Shaw, brother Jim Rankin, and sister Cheryl Micciche. She is survived by her brother Benny (Nancy) Henderson, sister Janice (John) Bustraan, sisters-in-law Debi Rankin and Jean Nussbaum; three daughters, Colleen (Mike) Parker, Sandra (Raymond Smith) Johnson, and Cathie Shaw; seven grandchildren, Carrie (Shannon) Sizemore, Danielle Johnson, Andrea (Brian) Rossignol, Jason Lynch, Hannah (Andy) Hill, Derek (Maggie) Johnson, and Benjamin Parker; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Sue will be remembered for her devotion to the Lord and her family. All will miss her smile that lit up every room she walked into, her ready encouragement for both friends and strangers, witty sayings, common sense, and abundant words of wisdom.

Interment will be with her husband Tom at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana, Arizona.
