Donna Kay Beatty (Schulz), 80, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away March 13, 2026. Born April 8, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. Donna graduated from Indio High School in Southern California and went on to serve three years in the United States Navy. She later moved to Alpena, Michigan, where she earned her nursing degree, and continued her military service with the Michigan Air National Guard. After 20 years of dedicated service, she retired to Hessel, Michigan. In 2016, she relocated to Tucson to be closer to family.
Rooted in her Catholic faith, Donna embraced a life rich in creativity and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. Her quilts were exquisite works of care and craftsmanship, and she found joy in woodworking and doll-making. She delighted in photographing clouds and sharing their beauty with everyone she could, seeing something special in each one. Her love of nature extended to her cherished rock collection—so meaningful to her that she made sure it came with her when she moved to Tucson. She also loved raising chickens and found deep contentment in both flower and vegetable gardening.
Donna is survived by her children, Douglas Hampton, Debra Hampton-McCollum, Robert Hampton, and Kimberly Hampton; and her brothers, twin Donald Schulz and Douglas Schulz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera Knorr Schulz and Ewald Schulz; and her brothers, Eugene Schulz and George Schulz.
A committal service will be held June 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Michigan. Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Donna’s name.
