Dennis Domenico Mafucci, born June 6, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of John Peter Mafucci and Julia Mariottini. Dennis is survived by his sister, Lillian Pratali of Chicago; his children, Steven J. Mafucci, Scott J. Mafucci, and Jenny L. Seekell; and his grandchildren, Zane A. Mafucci, Alexis Johnson, Eli J. Mafucci, and Colton Seekell.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he worked in various fields, but his most cherished role was with Zenith Electronics Corp. As an Assistant Plant Manager over TV production, he led an exceptionally efficient team whose performance earned him recognition within the company. When Zenith expanded internationally, Dennis was entrusted with helping open new production plants in Matamoros, Mexico, and Taiwan—an accomplishment that reflected both his leadership and dedication.
A passionate car enthusiast, Dennis owned numerous “hot rods” over the years and loved attending car meets. His favorite sports car was the Corvette, admired for its power and handling. Yellow was his favorite color, and he proudly owned a yellow Chevy Nova and a yellow trike affectionately known as “Antny.”
Dennis was an accomplished fisherman and a longtime member of the Windy City Fisherman’s Club, where he took part in events for both adults and children. He loved living near lakes, taking his boat out whenever he could, and spending peaceful hours on the water. Walleye, Northern Pike, and Muskie were his favorite catches, though he was happy to reel in anything that tugged at his line.
Dennis also had a fondness for flowers, especially roses. The Yellow Rose of Texas held a special place in his heart, which he believed had a uniquely distinct aroma. Before his passing, he received a bouquet of yellow roses—one of which remains preserved in his memory.
Music was a constant source of joy for Dennis. He could often be found outside with a speaker connected to his phone, tapping his “ballerina feet” to the rhythm. He believed that rhythm in one’s feet meant love in one’s soul. Even during his time in the hospital, he kept spirits high by impersonating Elvis with “a hunk, a hunk of burning love,” bringing laughter to those around him. His final song was Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” a fitting tribute to a man who truly lived life on his own terms.
Dennis was deeply loved by his family and formed lasting friendships wherever he went. His warmth, humor, and ability to connect with others made an impression on everyone he met. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
