Brad Clark Casselman, 72, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on August 15, 2025, from brain cancer.
Brad was born in Bethesda, Maryland on August 10, 1953, to Merle and Betty Casselman. Brad grew up in the Lutheran church where he came to know Jesus at a young age. In his early 20’s, Brad rededicated his life and lived for Jesus the rest of his life.
Brad’s father was in the Navy. As a military family, they moved around to different bases. Corpus Christi, Texas was Brad’s favorite as he discovered his passion for surfing. When his family moved to Yuma, Arizona, the lack of water caused Brad to redirect his passions from surfing to running track and singing in the choir.
After graduating from Kofa High School in Yuma in 1971, Brad attended Arizona Western College and University of Arizona. He spent the next 20 years working in the areas of landscaping, plant nurseries, and home building construction. He had discovered a passion for physical therapy after volunteering at the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind. When the opportunity arose, Brad returned to school in 1992 where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education and earned his Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 1998. His career as a Physical Therapist took him to Rockford, IL, Rapid City, SD, Payson, AZ, and Tucson, AZ, where he worked mainly in outpatient physical therapy clinics.
Brad truly loved being outdoors. He found joy in reading, running marathons, rock climbing, bicycling, and hiking. He found connections with others and shared a love for adventures. In earlier years, Brad would join his friend and mentor Jim Olsen on wilderness backpacking trips for youth, and also worked with Habitat for Humanity building houses in Nogales, AZ.
Brad enjoyed meeting and getting to know people. He had a fun-loving side to him, which when it came out, would result in smiles and laughter all around. Brad’s sense of humor will be missed by everyone.
In 1973, Brad married Cheryl Cash and had two children, Matthew (1976) and Jamie (1980). Brad married Clare Louttit in 1990. They spent their life together in Illinois, South Dakota and Arizona where they enjoyed outdoor adventures, served faithfully in church, and made lifelong friends along the way.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Betty, his sister, Diana, and his son-in-law Rudy. Brad is survived by his wife, Clare, his children, Matthew Casselman (Samantha) and Jamie Angeles, his 7 grandchildren: Bailey, Sophia, Noah, Gabriel, Evangelina, Emma, Isaiah, sister Nancy Proulx (Bill) as well as nieces and nephews, Leslie, Emily, Michelle, Becky, Dan, and Josh.
The Bible says, “We love because He first loved us.” Brad lived out this verse and will be remembered for the way he poured into those he loved, and the way he used his life to volunteer, lead, and devote his life to Jesus Christ.
Services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, 10:30 am, at Calvary Tucson, 8711 E Speedway, Tucson, Arizona. No flowers, please. Donations in Brad’s name may be made to Hands of Hope Tucson, or Calvary Tucson.
